I’m not sure how this ghost-town blog has survived on WordPress version 1.2 for years. I’ve only occasionally had to delete some spam comments.
Today I made the various updates with the thorough instructions on the WordPress Codex, and got up through version 2.9.2, which is where I’m at now.
When I try to get to version 3.0.6, it fails to display the home page properly, leaving just a blank, white page. Admin is fine. So revert to the backup database and WordPress directory.

Oh, nice, per-application volume control in a little app called IndieVolume. I can wait for the feature in Vista, but for now on XP I can crank up the volume on my tunes and not get blasted out of my seat when an IM or email comes in. Besides, waiting for it in Vista is kind of like waiting for tabbed-browsing in IE7, when it finally arrives it’s way anti-climactic.

Oh, look! It’s my brother in-law out on the web:

My, doesn’t he look handsome and so… so… respectable, doesn’t he? Of course, I really know him as the Beach Dude, surfing, and kayaking out in Florida, so I guess I haven’t really seen him that often in a suit:
A little spit & polish goes a long way, doesn’t it? (He’s a great guy, and I have a terrific time visiting with his family on our jaunts out to the Beach, but I’ve gotta poke some fun here

This makes me think twice about buying anything on eBay again.

The Theory of Diminished Urgency has always been in the back of my head, like so many fuzzy thoughts. But becoming a parent clarified it quite a bit. It’s very simple, and applies to many facets of life.

I’m a big NetFlix fan, and this is great. I’ve been curious about the algorithms behind my rental queue, but never enough so take it as far as this guy has.
We had a record setting snow storm recently! This picture of my antenna doesn’t show the peak depth of snow we received, but I still had a fully functional connection even though the snow had reduced my signal level by about half.

The company I work for has finally released a product! We do some pretty slick stuff taking PC based documents down to a Palm or Pocket PC device. The last half-year has been pretty grueling, and I’m happy to be at the end of this project.
