James Y.K. Moy

Numeric Rating System

(5) = Best; (4) = Better; (3) = Good; (2) = Fair; (1) = OK

These abstracts serve as reminders to myself; they serve to "jog" my memory on what a book was all about. That's all. This is not a literary critique, not a social commentary, and certainly nothing profound to warrant further discussion.

(5) = means that I really enjoyed this book; (1) = means I finished reading it but wonder if my time could have been better spent elsewhere.

You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson

This is probably one of his worse books. I think he’s riding on his reputation from previous works.

Story about a 26 old Nanny having an affair with the 40 something year old husband of the house. This is familiar: husband’s wife ignores him; spends her time fundraising with community organizations, and working out at the gym, etc. She’s too busy to take care of the two kids. The Nanny, of course, justifies her affair and just loves the kids…and hates the woman of the house. She has nightmares (guilt of course) and dreams of dead people killed in a hotel fire. She finally concludes that one of the dead bodies in the dream is she. Eventually, every one is killed. Big deal. (1)

Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer

An exciting story contrasting the lives and backgrounds of these two men. The one, wealthy and aristocratic; landed. The other poor, struggled all his life; peasantry, blue collar worker. Both excel in what they do.
